| | SGI is very pleased to offer our customers the opportunity to use a proven boar of MASTERPLAN’s stature. We would like to thank Farrer Stock Farm for leasing this powerful genetic package to SGI. MASTERPLAN is the 6th ranking sire out of over 7800 boars for Maternal Line Index in the January 1995 Yorkshire Across-Herd Sire Summary. Three of the five to rank above him include his illustrious sire, Ulf 166, who rewrote the record book for maternal performance since imported by SGI from Sweden in 1989 and two half brothers also sired by Ulf 166. MASTERPLAN’s dam was the 1990 Summer Conference Champion and $3,100 top selling gilt. Her sire, Blueprint, has also been one of the maternal trait leaders in the Yorkshire STAGES program. She has averaged 10.6 pigs weaned and 145 lb weaning weight in five parities. She is also the dam of the outstanding young sire, FAR Diamond 21-3, that is doing a tremendous job at Farrer’s. His first test station pen topped the Purdue Station with one boar at 2.78 ADG, 0.62 BF, 7.25 LEA and 2.00 FE. In addition to the documented tremendous sow productivity and leanness of the Ulf line, MASTERPLAN adds another dimension of superior growth as evidenced by his EPD for days of –3.15. MASTERPLAN has sired several top performing test station pens including the top indexing pen overall breeds at the August 1993 Iowa Swine Test Station Sale. MASTERPLAN is big in dimensions. A tall, massive fronted boar, with bold shoulders and extra spring of rib; he carries his natural width out through a big, thick rump and full, deep hams. A super sound, flexible boar, he can still spring to his feet and motor with the best of them. Certainly the Ulf sons, Pork Chop and Ulf 62-6, have been two of the most popular boars at SGI in the past couple of years. We feel that MASTERPLAN has the same genetic potential for leanness and maternal traits with the added dimension of superior growth. | |
