URON is the long bodied, level made, extremely maternal appearing boar of the six recent Swedish imports. He is long faced, long necked, extra long and level about his rump and very flexible in his overall design. He has an excellent underline with refined, high quality nipples. His littermate gilts were outstanding in terms of combining leanness and muscle into very sound, maternal appearing packages. He is backed by excellent sow productivity. His dam has averaged 11.2 born live and 10.7 weaned in six parities while his maternal granddam has averaged 12.3 born live and 11.3 weaned in eight parities. URON’s paternal granddam averaged 14.0 weaned for four parities. URON’s sire is of the U line heritage similar to several other outstanding SGI imports including Ulf, Ume and Viking. The progeny test groups of URON’s sire and dam were above average on growth and were a remarkable +3.0% and +4.7% lean above the test average with only 0.51 and 0.35 in carcass backfat. The sire of URON’s dam had an excellent 116 breeding index. In comparison to the station average, his progeny test groups averaged 0.17 lb faster gain, 24 lb less feed per 100 lb gain and 2.3% higher carcass lean. Again, as with Rolf, we feel sow productivity is guaranteed along with length and leanness when you utilize URON in your breeding program.

SUPER COMMANDER was the top selling boar at the 1984 Southeast Duroc Congress; but more important has been the outstanding siring ability of this truly superior proven sire. He sired the $12,500 1985 Hog College Boar and current SGI sire, Reform, as well as the $9300 1986 Hog College Boar. His offspring have consistently performed well in the test station as noted by the average on his 23 sons listed below. They excel in growth rate, yet are long bodied, extra lean, muscular, heavy boned, super sound and aggressive. As John McDaniel stated in his catalog, he is the "sire of the times" that has and will continue to redefine growth and muscle in red hogs. His offspring have suited the commercial man, purebred breeder, and buyers from many foreign countries.
