飼料效率的選拔
飼料效率是個很難估算與應用的遺傳性能，原因有兩個：
1.測量準確度(accuracy of measurement)：國內檢定站有的使用兩頭一欄，也有使用一頭一欄，當然一頭一欄比較準，還有玩飼料損失的部份也很難估算，而種豬場或是肉豬場測量飼料效率卻是使用多頭一欄，所以在檢定站看到的飼料效率與真正在豬場中所呈現的會有所差異，加上各場的欄舍飼養密度、飼料配方、餵飼方法、環境不同也會有所差異，可能這樣的差異會很大，現在國內仍無相關研究試驗結果可以證明檢定種豬的飼料效率與其後代肉豬的飼料效率相關性。
2.選拔反應(selection response)：先說飼料效率與日增重大約有0.75的相關性，也就是選拔增進日增重這個性狀，對飼料效率會有大約75%的改進，那我們如果將此二性狀都放在選拔指數中，而且將其權重都增加，有兩個現象會發生，第一對此二性狀會有快速改進的效果，第二就是重覆了選拔這兩性狀的動作與經費。另外，強力選拔種豬的飼料效率可能選出的種豬實際上是因為某些時段的食慾低下所致，尤其是單頭關一欄者；若是多頭關一欄，飼料效率又與排序搶食有關，其群體中的排序競爭強者自然取得較多採食機會。
國內並未有整群後裔檢定的數據分析，個人認為種豬的飼料效率好壞應該由其後裔(尤其是肉豬群)的平均值來判定，不宜強力使用種豬個別的飼料效率來斷定淘汰與否，尤其已經有日增重在此指數中。

截至2008/02/17為止，共有96人投票，所以應該使用96為分母做比例計算，
飼效能力為最多人選擇的項目(82.3%)，抗病能力居次(79.2%)，高繁殖力則
以78.1%居第三位，而有約60%投增重能力，有40.6%的同學選擇高產肉力
與肉質品質這兩項。

飼效佳增重快母性佳就可以了
當然有漂亮的體型就再好不過

抗病力
透過時間以及族群的選拔
以終端公豬來說
我個人認為
飼料效率和增重是最容易且快速的
而繁殖力也不難
把自家母豬群每日每胎的資料健全
3-6年 肯定會有大躍進
(3年六胎 每年33%的淘汰率 母豬群也幾乎全換過了)
最難的 以及決勝負的
還是抗病力
每隔7-10年 依定會有新種的
大規模影響豬群健康的病毒
先是PRRS 再來是環狀
很快步到2011年就會有新的降臨
反正在養全場200頭有配過種的母豬
每個月賣300投肉豬
怎樣也是立於不敗
